Committee Mission: The Creation Justice Committee endeavors to (1) integrate the active care of God's creation into the spiritual life and social justice work of Macalester Plymouth United Church and (2) empower members of the congregation to adopt everyday acts of environmental stewardship to protect the natural systems upon which all earthly life depends.

Committee Member Role:

Members of CJC will:

  • Attend a monthly meeting

  • Participate in committee discussions and community events as able

  • Contribute to programming during Earth Sunday, Creation Season (September), and other relevant services

  • Report on task progress at a subsequent meeting

Amount of Time Committed: 1-2 hours per month

Typical Meeting Schedule: 1st Sunday at 9:00 am

Average Number of Committee Members: 10 people

Note: While we do have several members with environmental careers/educational backgrounds, that is not a prerequisite to join. We are an enthusiastic group of people who like to learn about new technologies, community initiatives, and pass along what we find to the congregation. We focus both on greening church-specific practices, and educating the congregation on household-level changes.
