Congregational Meeting

he Session has called a congregational meeting to be held after worship on Sunday, May 7, in-person and online. The purpose of the meeting is to discern and possibly affirm our commitment as a congregation to antiracism. Why is a congregational vote necessary and important? It is a way to affirm the work we are already doing, express our values publicly, and hold ourselves accountable to continuing and deepening this work, much like being Open and Affirming/More Light and being an Earthcare/Creation Justice church does. The vote will be on the following statement. It is intentionally short, recognizing that there is still so much to learn and many facets of what this could mean. Click here to read additional background and context for this statement.

Grounded in our faith, MPUC affirms antiracism as an essential Christian commitment and pledges to actively confront white supremacy in culture and systems, dismantle racism, and embody equity within ourselves, our ministries, and our witness in the wider community.

We hope to see everyone at the meeting in person or online via Zoom.
