On October 6, we will collect our annual offering for Peace and Global Witness (PCUSA) and
Neighbors in Need (UCC). Half goes to each denomination. This year, the PCUSA’s focus is “Sowing the Seeds of Peace.” It is used for peacemaking projects around the globe (50%); local ministries of our Presbytery (25%); plus 25% stays with MPUC for our own peace ministries. Funding uses can include basics (food, housing, tools) and more.
The UCC’s focus, “Mental Health Justice for All,” supports an earlier UCC resolution to become “WISE–Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, & Engaged” for mental health. One third of this offering traditionally supports the Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM). Two-thirds are used by Justice and Witness Ministries for grants to UCC churches and organizations. Also, it supports a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.
