Sacred Self-Care Recharge Wednesdays

“In this election year that arrives amidst multiple global crises, maybe you are wondering like me, how can I stay faithfully engaged politically, grounded in my justice commitments, and present to global struggles for peace, justice and freedom without burning out, checking out, or opting out?” The Rev. Dr. Cheryl A. Lindsay, Minister for Worship and Theology for the United Church of Christ.

You are invited, Church, into Sacred Self-Care Recharge Wednesdays. An invitation “for all of us to deepen our capacities and commitments to healing, wholeness and care.”

The Adult Faith Formation Team will host four Wednesday evening supper and self-care sessions in the church Social Hall:

October 23, 5:30 - 7 pm

October 30, 5:30 - 7 pm

November 13, 5:30 - 7 pm

November 20, 5:30 - 7 pm

We’ll engage the book Sacred Self Care: Daily Practices for Nurturing Our Whole Selves by Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes, as well as passages from Black Liturgies: Prayers, Poems, and Meditations for Staying Human by Cole Arthur Riley.

Each session will include prayer, readings, reflection, and discussion about taking care of ourselves together in such tiring times. We will have Walker-Barne’s book available for participants. The book offers daily self-care practices.

Click here to sign up. You can sign up for all four nights, or as many as you're able to attend!

Our offerings are in partnership with the National United Church of Christ All-Church Read of the two books. You can learn more here:
