Advent Blessings from the Holms Family in Malawi
Amidst the many crises in the world right now, Malawi rarely makes the news. Still, MPUC has
continued to support the work of the Holms in this small African country. It is one of the least
developed in the world, and its population has a low life expectancy and high infant mortality.
Tyler is a lecturer in systematic theology, Church history and Greek at the University of
Livingstonia, a private university which is part of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian. Their
students will be ordained as teaching elders and future leaders of the church and Malawian
society. Rochelle’s work centers on the global sanitation crisis, through research on sanitation
samples as a time capsule into community health. She believes everyone needs a safe and
usable toilet.
The Holms sent the following letter to MPUC:
Sending Advent blessings to you from Mzuzu, Malawi!
Our family has so much to be thankful for this Advent Season. We are deeply thankful
for you and your willingness to join us in prayers and financial support of our family’s call
to serve in Malawi and to support theological education with our local partner the Church
of Central Africa Presbyterian. Please continue praying for the country of Malawi, its
government, its leaders, its students, its future, and also pray for our local Church
partner, and the universities that we work for.
Merry Christmas,
Tyler, Rochelle and Mphatso (age 11) Holm
